Dr. Isaac Tam

“Pediatric dentistry and orthodontics has given me the tools to help people. Whether I’m alleviating a child’s pain or building a smile, I have been blessed with the ability to make a positive difference in my patients’ lives.” — Dr. Isaac Tam

Dr. Isaac Tam, a board-certified pediatric dentist and orthodontist, has been creating  healthy smiles for more than a dozen years. He earned his Bachelor of Science with honors in biology from Hope College, his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania, his Pediatric Dentistry Degree and training from New York University Langone Hospital, and his Orthodontics Masters Degree and training from the University of British Columbia. He lectures to dental professionals worldwide and has had his research published in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Dr. Isaac is a faculty and lecturer of graduate orthodontics at the University of British Columbia where he mentors dental students and residents.

In his spare time, Dr. Isaac enjoys time with family, fishing, playing hockey, tennis and golf, and developing community projects through the Tam Foundation.

 

Dr. Serena Kassam

Dr. Serena Kassam is originally from West Vancouver, BC. She completed her B.A/D.M.D at Tufts University in Boston, MA and Pediatric Dental Residency through Lutheran Medical Center at St Joseph’s Hospital, in Providence, RI. She then went on to complete a research fellowship at New York University Langone Medical Center, Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery, in Craniofacial Pediatric Dentistry and Nasoalveolar Molding (NAM).

Dr. Kassam has now joined as faculty at University of British Columbia, and BC Children’s Hospital in the role of Clinical Assistant professor, in the department of Pediatric Dentistry. She is also maintaining her Adjunct Clinical Professor role with New York University College of Dentistry.

Dr. Kassam is actively committed to her work with Global Smile Foundation (GSF), a registered non- profit dedicated to improving the lives of patients with cleft lip and palate in developing countries, as the Director of the Dental and Pre-Surgical division, a board member and volunteer since 2010.

 

Maryann

Certified Dental Assistant

Maryann was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. She later moved to Canada in 2001 with her husband and 3 kids. She graduated from the university of East Philippines, and with her passion for health care, Maryann decided to pursue dental assisting and has since been practicing along side Dr. Isaac Tam. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, camping with her family and friends and watching television dramas. She speaks fluent English and Tagalog.

 

Maria

Dental Hygienist

Originally from China, Maria ventured to Montreal to complete her dental hygiene certification. From there she took a leap and moved to Vancouver, B.C. When not practicing dental hygiene, Maria enjoys listening to Kunqu Opera (traditional Chinese opera) and reading. As a dental hygienist, Maria is a firm advocate in passing on her knowledge to patients regarding prevention and helping patients achieve confidence with a healthy smile.

 

Yvonne

Treatment Coordinator

Yvonne was born in Taiwan but moved to Vancouver when she was 7 with her family. She graduated with a degree in hospitality and has since worked in customer service in New York, Taiwan and Canada. Outside of work, Yvonne loves exploring the beautiful nature that Vancouver offers, and enjoying the variety of cuisines all around the city!


 

Diane

Receptionist

Diane was born and raised in the Philippines where she got her degree in the field of Hospitality. Her innate warmth and empathetic traits compliments her overall . Diane has been exposed to different industries where she honed her customer-service, sales and marketing skills. As a front-liner, she believes every customer deserves top-notch service. Diane loves to paint murals, landscapes, portraits and many more.

 

Diana

Office Manager

Having grown up on the North Shore, Diana is excited to be part of Dr. Isaac’s new practice in North Vancouver.  She earned an undergraduate degree in Human Kinetics (Kinesiology) from the University of British Columbia, and a Masters of Business Administration degree from Simon Fraser University.  In her spare time, she loves to play tennis, volleyball, basketball and the occasional golf!
